I have started to upload my photos to ShippingExplorer, but find to my great astonishment that the photos that I've posted on other AIS pages with copyright protection, is already in ShippingExplorer. Is not this a violation of copyright?

Dear Stureth,

Unfortunately we can not control whose photos the people upload to the web-site and to the ShippingExplorer software.

Please contact us if you noticed the violation of copyright. We will delete such photos or think how to fight though this seems complicated as we may not prohibit uploading the photos. It is indicated that the photos uploaded should be without any copyright and other inscriptions on them.

I’ll bee more specific:
This picture is uploaded by system, witch I think is you:
*photo removed by Admin*
This picture is uploaded by stureth. That’s me:

My pictures, uploaded to other AIS-servers are all added with copyright.
How is it that ShippingExplorer has taken my pictures from another AIS-server ?

Sture, I've deleted the infringed photo.

But just to clarify: The user "System" isn't really a user. Since 2008 clients were able to add photos through the ShippingExplorer 5 program. For privacy reasons we did not store any user data associated with the uploader of a photo. Hence, all those photos (which users uploaded before the new web site) are from "System".

PS: I hope this clarifies things for you and you continue to add photos. Some of them are really good :)

I accept this explanation.

But I have discovered something else:
There is a photo of Port of Floro with this link
*photo removed for violation*
with the bottom of the picture cut off. The picture is taken by me from my house.
The original picture is a bit bigger:

What’s the explanation of that?

Obviously that picture wasn't uploaded by me, so I can't say what the motivation was. Since the picture is cropped, my guess is there was a copyright or something. Also, that user uploaded a lot more pictures which I guess he didn't shoot himself.

I apologize for this, but it's really hard to keep track which uploaded photos are stolen and which aren't.
As a consequence we'll add a "Report"-button to each photo so users can have them removed.

If you see any more such photos, please don't hesitate to report them.

This is a little off topic but you seem to be an experienced photographer/user - how do you like the procedure for uploading a new photo? Is there anything that can be improved or changed?

As promised, a button was added: Option to 'Report Photo'.
