Ukraine’s Port Yuzhny traffic volume hits record high

Freight traffic passing through Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port in 2011 totaled 22,639,100 tons, a 24.2-percent growth year-on-year and a record volume handled ever by the port’s terminals, the company said.


In the reporting period, ore cargo (10,379,400 tons), as well as urea, ammonia, and carbon were main cargoes handled at the port.


The volume of transit cargo increased by 35.4% year-on-year to 10,552,500 tons.
In 2011, Vostochny port handled 880 ships and 183,381 rail cars.


State-run Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port founded in 1978 is located on the northwest coast of the Black Sea, in the ice-free Small Adzhalyksk (Grygoryivsky) estuary, 30 km northeast of Odessa. The Port is connected to the sea by a 3km-long 14-m-deep canal so pilotage service is required for inbound and outbound vessels. In 2010, Port of Yuzhny posted a 2.1% growth year-over-year to 18.22 million tons of different cargoes.

Ukraine’s Yuzhny port traffic rises 25 percent in Jan-Nov

Cargo throughput of the Port of Yuzhny in January-November, 2011 rose by 25 percent from the same period of 2010, to 20,521,500 tons, the state-owned company said.


Eleven-month volume of iron ore totaled 9,229,300 tons, of ammonia – 3,260,900 tons, of coal – 2,195,700 tons, of urea – 2,129,200 tons.

In the reporting period, the port handled 771 ships and 167,230 railcars.

Ukraine’s Yuzhny port throughput rises 28.6 percent in Jan-Oct

Handling of cargo at Yuzhny port (Ukraine) in January-October 2011 increased by 28.6 percent from a year earlier, to 19.88 million tons. The ten-month volume of cargo is up 13.5% over the planned figures, the company's press office reported.

Year-to-date, transit goods volume soared by 53.9 percent to 9.5 million tons. In the reporting period, the port was handling primarily ore, mineral fertilizers and coal, the report said.

In January-October Yuzhny port handled 759 ships and 153,604 railcars.

This October, the port handled 2.5 million tons of different cargoes, 78 ships and 14,622 railcars.

Yuzhny port’s nine-month throughput grows 29.1 percent

Cargo traffic at the Ukrainian Port of Yuzhny in January-September, 2011 totaled 17,037,600 tons, a 29.1 percent growth from last year’s figures and an 11.8 pct gain versus projected numbers, the company statistics said.

In January-September, transit cargo transshipment rose to 8,727,900 tons, 3,290,500 tons more than a year ago.

The 29 percent growth was driven primarily by handling of ore cargoes - 7,778,800 tons (including offshore transshipment).

In the reporting period, Yuzhny port handled d 681 vessels and 138,982 railcars.

In September, cargo traffic at Yuzhny’s terminals rose to 1,894,100 tons (up109,8% vs planned numbers). The port’s stevedores handled 82 ships and 15,085 raicars.

Yuzhny port's throughput grows 37% to 13.1 million tons

Cargo volume handled at Ukraine-based Port of Yuzhny increased in January-July of this year by 37% from a year earlier, and by 12% versus planned figure, to 13 175 000 tons, the company said Monday.

During the reporting period the port handled 522 ships and 109.500 rail cars.

In July, Yuzhny terminals handled 683 million tons of cargo, up 24% over last year’s numbers.

Ukraine’s Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port in the first half of 2011 handled 11,492,000 tons, a 39 percent growth over H1, 2010, and a record high versus 11,149,000 tons handed in 2008, the state-run company said.

In Q2 2011 the port handled 6,213,600 tons of cargo, a 75.5 percent surge from the same period of 2010.

In June, the Port of Yuzhny demonstrated a three-fold volume gain to 1,959,100 tons.

Since Jan, 2011 the port has handled 446 ships and 93,361 rail cars.
