Severnaya Verf hands over a PSV to Norwegian customer

Severnaya Verf JSC (Northern Shipyard) of St. Petersburg has delivered a platform supply ship of VS 470 PSV MkII project to its Norwegian customer - Siddis SkipperII AS, the SV’s press-service reported.
Among the vessels of this type this is the first order the Russian shipyard has accomplished for a foreign customer on a turnkey basis.

The offshore drilling platforms supply vessel is equipped with special tanks and cargo system for transportation of drilling mud, bulk cargo, methanol and general cargo on the open deck. Also, the vessel is designed for participation in rescue and evacuation operations and extinguishing fires at oil drilling rigs.

Shipbuilding plant Severnaya Verf JSC was founded on Nov. 14, 1912. The company’s main product line includes warships and merchant ships for various purposes. Currently, the shipyard is building the Russian Defense Ministry orders, 75% of the state shipbuilding program for surface warships. The Severnaya Verf’s portfolio of orders includes a series of oil platform supply vessels intended for the export. The United Industrial Corp. holds a 72.19-percent stake in Severnaya Verf. The Russ. Govt. interests are represented by Western Center of Shipbuilding who owns 20.96% of shares.

Sea Port St. Petersburg handles a 173-ton shaft for Hyundai

The First Stevedoring Company (FSC, of Sea Port of St. Petersburg Group) jointly with the specialists of Universal Freight Forwarder Llc. has transshipped the shaft weighing 173 tons for the Hyundai factory, the Sea Port St. Petersburg JSC press service said.

The cargo was carried by railroad from Kharkov (Ukraine) to the 23rd berth of FSC and transported to the pier №40 by the floating crane Hercules, intended for handling of heavy cargoes up to 300 tons. Then the cargo was loaded onto the Capitan Lus ship, which hold was equipped with mounted I-beams to distribute the weight of the shaft. Upon completion of the loading operation the ship headed for Rotterdam for onward transportation to its destination.

Admiralty Shipyards may join bidding for a warships contract

Admiralty Shipyards company is ready to take part in an international tender for the construction of Mistral helicopter class, the shipbuilder’s General Director Vladimir Alexandrov said today in an interview with journalists during the official keel-laying ceremony of the Novorossiysk submarine in St. Petersburg.

He said the shipyard would need about a year to prepare the enterprise capacity to accomplish the order. Mr. Alexandrov said, Far East Shipyard Zveza (Big Stone) might also participate in the tender. The issue will be discussed in September 2010 at a meeting in Kaliningrad.

Earlier this year, French President Nicolas Sarkozy at his the meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev had said that France and Russia have "exclusive negotiations" about a possible purchase by Russia of four French helicopter carriers "Mistral". However, the issue is still pending, how many warships will be supplied by France and how many to be built by Russian companies.

Russian media reported earlier quoting the head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Roman Trotsenko that the Russian Defense Ministry had said about possible international tender for helicopter carriers contract, inviting foreign and Russian bidders.

Admiralty Shipyards builds a submarine for Russian Navy

The keel-laying ceremony for construction of a lead ship, 636 Project submarine, named Novorossiysk, was held at Admiralty Shipyards, St. Petersburg. The warship was ordered for the Russian Navy, PortNews IAA correspondent reports from the official ceremony.

The submarine, known worldwide as KILO (NATO classification), belongs to the third generation of diesel-electric submarines. The modified 636 Project vessel has a higher combating effectiveness as compared with previously built warships.

Admiralty Shipyards (Admiralteysky Verfy), the oldest Russian shipbuilder (founded in 1704), is part of Western Center of Shipbuilding of United Shipbuilding Corporation. The Shipyard specializes construction of submarines. To date, the Company has built more than 300 submarines (including 41 nuclear-powered warships), 68 deep and underwater vessels.

Sea Port of St. Petersburg posts net loss of 30,8m for H1, 2010

Net loss of the Sea Port of St. Petersburg JSC in January-June amounted to RUB30,801m against net income of RUB21,587m a year earlier, the company statements said.

Revenues of the Group for the first half of the year made up 550 million 14 thousand rubles, 17.7% down from H1, 2009. The income cutback was caused largely by a decline in income from the property lease and energy management, the report said.

The third tugboat, constructed at the Leningrad Shipyard Pella for Sovcomflot, has been delivered to the Customer. The vessel will be soon launched, the company press release said.

An earlier report said the Dobrynya was designed to operate in North-West region. The ship dimensions: LOA - 28.5 m, Breadth - 9,5 m, Depth - 4,8 m, Overall draught - about 4,5 m, Crew – 8, Bollard pull - 47 tons. The tug was built on class KM * Arc4 R2 Aut1 FF3 WS Tug.
