Three icebreakers escort 36 cargo ships in Azov Sea
A combined convoy merchant ships is led by three Rosmorport’s diesel-electric icebreakers in the Sea of Azov. The Kapitan Chudinov, the Kapitan Moshkin and the Kapitan Krutov are escorting a caravan of 36 ships. The Kapitan Demidov was guiding 11 Temryuk port-bound ships, which could not enter the port due to unfavorable weather conditions. Meanwhile, the MV St. Nicholas departed from the port of Temryuk without icebreaker assistance and is now heading for to the Kerch Strait, the Azov Ice Ops Headquarters said.


As of 05:00 pm, March 18, there were 49 cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, 48 of them were moving, 1 was damaged, 88 vessels (ice-classed -24) were ready to depart from the Azov Sea ports. In the Black Sea there were 56 ships (12 with ice-class hulls) – to pass through the Kerch Strait.

Port Temryuk two-month traffic volume slumps 44 percent

Cargo throughput at the port Temryuk in January-February plummeted by approximately 44 percent year-on-year to 190,540 tons, the Port Authority told PortNews.


In the reporting period, exports volumes dropped by 41% to 183,300 tons, imports slumped by 57.8% to 4,810 tons. The number of calls decreased by 71% to 55 ships.


Port of Temryuk is located on the Taman seashore of the Azov Sea. The berths of total length of 1,200 rm are equipped for handling general cargoes, round timber, lumber, food products, metals and oversized cargoes. In 2011, cargo traffic at the port of Temryuk rose to 2.34 million tons (vs 1.95mln in 2010).

Cargo throughput at NCR off-dock railyards up 1.8 percent

Exports / imports flows passing through near-dock railyards of the North Caucasus Railway (NCR, SKZD) in January totaled 1.34 million tons, up 1.8% over the same period last year, Russian Railways said.

Cargo handling at the port Temryuk in January 2012 decreased by 16.8% year-on-year, to 172,810 tons, the Port Authority statistics said.


In the reporting period, the port of Kavkaz saw a 16.7 percent decline from a year earlier in outbound cargo, to 165,570 tons, and a 46.5 percent drop in inbound goods, to 4,810 tons.


Short sea traffic volume totaled 2,430 tons. The number of calls was down 38.1% to 52 vessels.

Port of Temryuk traffic rises 20 percent in 2011

Cargo throughput of the port Temryuk in 2011 grew by 20% year-on-year, to 2.34 million tons, the Port Authority said.


Handling of outbound cargo rose by 29.59% to 2.12 mln tons, while the volume of inbound goods slumped by 43.2% from last year’s figure to 242,000 tons. Shipments of coastal traffic cargo increased by 16 1% to 88.22 tons.


In the reporting period, Temryuk handled 799 vessels, a 10.51-percent growth from a year earlier.

Rosmorport completes dredging at Port of Temryuk

Azov-Black Sea regional branch of Federal Rosmorport completed on November 17 urgent dredging of the approach channel of the Port of Temryuk, the enterprise press release said.


The channel was cleared from debris and sediments formed by recent storm and deepened to the required mark. Now the channel is safe for navigation of all types of vessels with permissible draft, Rosmorport said.
