Sea-Cargo to start new Freight ro/ro ferry service from Denmark to Norway
Sea-Cargo will start a new ro/ro freight ferry service between Esbjerg in Denmark and Egersund in Norway, Maritimedanmark reports. The first sailing will take place on 25th of February - and the service will operate on a rolling alternate day departure from each port with an overnight crossing.
Departures will be at 1600 hrs both Northbound and Southbound – with arrival Esbjerg or Egersund the following morning at 08:00. Please find below a schedule plan for the first few sailings.
The service is initially backed by a contract with Siemens for transport of 26-32 windmills for the Høg-Jæren project – but it is Sea-Cargo’s intention to continue the service also following the completion of this agreement.
The new line between Egersund and Esbjerg will complement the existing twice weekly service to/from Bergen, Risavika and Esbjerg – and will provide the area with a new and modern high frequency solution effectively bringing the entire “south west coast” closer to mainland Europe.
